Overview
Brisk Sox ("we," "us," or "our") operates a free, browser-based parlour of classic skill games for a general Canadian audience. We are privacy-conscious by design and aim to collect as little information as possible. This policy explains what information is involved when you visit the site and use the games or forms.
Information we collect
- Game records and settings: stored only in your browser using localStorage. This data stays on your device and is not sent to us.
- Cookie and privacy preferences: your choices are stored locally on your device so we can respect them on future visits.
- Optional contact information: the contact and privacy-request forms never send anything to us directly. Submitting one opens your own email app with the details already written into a message, which you choose to send or discard. We receive only what arrives as ordinary email.
- Standard server logs: your web host may record basic technical information such as IP address and browser type for security and reliability. Replace this section with your host's actual practices before publishing.
Local storage records
Your best results for each game are saved with your browser's localStorage feature. These values are non-personal (for example, a completion time, a move count, or a number of wins), are tied to your device and browser only, and are never uploaded or shared. You can remove them at any time using the "Clear My Local Records" button on the home page or the cookies page.
Cookies and preferences
We use local storage rather than tracking cookies. Strictly necessary storage keeps the site working and remembers your privacy choices. Optional categories (Preferences and Analytics) are off by default and only activate if you turn them on. No external analytics are currently loaded. Contact forms
Our contact form and privacy-request form ask for very little. Agreement to occasional updates is never pre-ticked, and it is never bundled into acceptance of our terms. Neither form posts to a server: submitting one drafts an ordinary email in your own mail app, and it reaches us only once you send it.
Consent
We aim to reflect PIPEDA-style meaningful consent principles: we describe our practices in plain language, keep optional categories off by default, and make your choices easy to change. Using the games does not require you to provide personal information or accept optional cookies.
How to withdraw consent
You can withdraw consent at any time by opening , rejecting optional cookies, or using the "Clear Privacy Choices" button. If you have submitted personal information through a connected backend in the future, you may withdraw consent by contacting us at [email protected].
Access, correction, and deletion requests
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information you have submitted to us, and you may withdraw consent. You can submit a request using the privacy-request section on our Contact page or by emailing [email protected]. Because game records live only in your browser, you can delete those yourself with the clear-data buttons.
Third-party services
The site is built with local files only and does not embed third-party games, iframes, tracking pixels, or external analytics. If you deploy the site, your hosting provider and any future services you add (such as a form backend or analytics) would become third parties; disclose them here before publishing.
Data retention
Local records and preferences remain on your device until you clear them or your browser removes them. For any personal information submitted through a future backend, retain it only as long as necessary for the purpose it was provided and describe that period here.
Children and parents
Brisk Sox is a general-audience site and is not directed at children. We do not require accounts, collect birthdates, or knowingly collect personal information from children. Parents and guardians can review our Parent / Guardian Info page and can clear local records and cookie choices on any device.
Security
We take reasonable, general safeguards appropriate to a static informational site. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. If you connect a backend, use encryption in transit, minimize stored data, and update this section accordingly.
International users
The site targets a Canadian audience. If you access it from outside Canada, be aware that any information you submit through a future backend may be processed in Canada or another jurisdiction where our providers operate.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
